It has been exactly 71 years since the fall of Germany's third Reich, but for some reason the current mentality of Russian anti-right politicians and activists is to censor the insignia of the long dead third Reich. The anti-Nazi mentality has led Russia to make some radical bans and state sensor ships of rather harmless items, such as a pair of woman's high heels that bear the insignia of the Luftwaffe (German air force) and children's toys of soldiers that have SS insignia on them. Russian authorities believe that the insignia could offend veterans of the war.
Do you think that the Russian censorship is in fact protecting the veterans or do you think it is more politically motivated?
all the stuff with hitler and the third reich was almost a century ago. it should not offend anyone anymore therefore people should be allowed to at least talk about it. and if someone wants to buy a pair of nazi shoes, let them. its their choice. not the government
I believe their intentions and actions are out of fear of this culture and political group being able to rise again. Also Russia's government does not tolerate any outside opinion, expression or politics outside their own.
I agree with christina in that banning such things is pointless. I understand that it may offend some people but its not just something that should be forgotten.
