as america moves closer and closer to reaching the fiscal cliff the goverment is determining weather or not to deny additional increase in funds for the pentagon.
I think that they should not spend on pentagon and save it for other purposes because we spend enough on national defense and should more money towards health care and public utilities
They should spread the money equally between the pentagon ,and put money into education ,and other necessities to be able to have the government protecting us and to have a helping hand in education and necessities.
I think the government should invest it's money into a profitable program such as education instead of funnel more of it into the pentagon. If the money was used to better education, more young people would typically have a higher state of education. In turn, a larger amount of the coming generation would be qualified for higher paying jobs and the increase of earning would increase spending and investing and eventually effect the economic growth of America in a positive manner.
Sure, if we put more money into education the nation wide IQ will increase. But if we start to lessen funding to the Pentagon we'll be putting our nation in danger. Maybe if we do put more money into education, the American people will smarten up and see that we need to increase funding to the DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE WHICH IS THE MAIN BRANCH OPERATING WITHIN THE PENTAGON.
To reduce the funding for the Pentagon is to essentially reduce the funding for the national defense of the United States of America. Although programs such as education and other social welfare programs may be important, they WOULD NOT exist if we were not a free country and instead living under the constant threat of terror. they provide security in both cyber and physical. they analyze foreign terror and circumstances so we can act accordingly to protect what we hold so dear. So to answer the question, we should keep funding the pentagon and keep it a priority.
I agree with Michael, funding for the Pentagon should remain a priority to keep America safe. The Pentagon should receive the increase in funds only if it is absolutely needed so the government can fund other necessities, like education, that need that increase.

Since the U.S. is nearing the fiscal cliff, I think it is best to decrease the amount of spending overall. Simply adding money to defense programs or education programs doesn't solve anything if the departments can't take that money and make necessary changes with it. The government should hold back on the money until it creates an effective program that truly will help our defenses or a program that could actually benefit schools and improve intelligence.
I think that our government should actually work together for a change and make something happen. I believe that the Pentagon should receive as much funding as is needed because we are living in a post 9/11 world where the only thing protecting us is our nations large amount of intelligence. This is only possible by keeping the Pentagon fully funded and running properly.
