A 16-year-old Connecticut highschool studen, Maren Sanchez, was stabbed to death in a school stairwell Friday by a fellow student after she turned down his invitation to prom. The suspect,after being turned down and infuriated over the prom invitation, tried to strangle the girl, then pushed her down the stairs before stabbing her in the throat. She died later that night in the hospital. The suspect was arrested by a school guard and the school was placed on lock down following the attack. The prom was postponed.
I think person needs to have alot of mental help or anger management classes and to be sent to jail because this kid is way to dangerous to be kept around other students.
I think he should be jailed and get help because he obviously has something mentally wrong with him. If a girl said no to me i would say okay and walk away, simple as that.
He has a mental problem...he should go to see a doctor and learn to manage his anger. That is so unfortunate that a young girl died for such a ridiculous reason.

It's a good thing that never happened at last week's prom i attended, and i'd say that is a very sadistic thing to do. If you get turned down, there's always more open ladies to go with.
I would never imagine this happening because turning down a prom date but this is inexcusable. This boy obviously has more deeper problems than his potential date turning him down. I feel horrible for the girls family.
It's very obvious why she didn't want to go to prom with him. He obviously had some sort of issues going on in his head. He should be institutionalized and hopefully receive some mental help.
This is such a horrible and tragic event. I can't even imagine this happening. This is not at all ok just because she turned down a prom date. There must be deeper issues that need to be addressed in this boys life.
That is a crazy way to react to a girl saying no to a prom invite. I can understand why should did say no cause he was obviously not in the right state of mind. I can't believe that he reacted that way in the school hallways. Where were the teachers and staff when this was going on?
This is such a tragic incident.. I simply cannot imagine anything like this occuring to a close friend of mine. The kid probably had some sort of anger management/abandonment issues/mental problem and should be checked out immediately. There is no excuse for this. I empathize for the entire school, especially the close family and friends of the girl.
This guy over reacted majorly and i feel extremely sorry for this girls family he had no right to act the way he did this just means that's something more is going on in his head.
the actions he took were unnecessary for such a little thing. her decision should have been respected and now her life has been taken over something that could have been avoided. knowing someone from my school was stabbed because they said no to prom would make me extremely upset and i would be taken aback.
The fact that he murdered this girl just because he was upset that she rejected his prom invitation shows that he has some serious mental problems that need to be addressed. I feel so sorry for the girl and her family because this was in no way her fault and she was just extremely unlucky.
