A University student and National Guard captain among three more people shot dead during ongoing violent protests in the central Venezuelan city of Valencia, with several more injured.
Two of the deaths were a result of the people being unhappy with scarcity of basic items and rising unemployment from the closure of many businesses.
The opposition has accused the government of supporting armed civilian thugs who attack protests.
I do not think that the government should be allowed to harm and kill civilians to control behavior and protests because it is abusing power and will create more tension and violence. However, it is necessary if the civilians are violent against the government.
I don't think the government should take such lethal actions as to kill people for this, but they should send the people that were part of the killing to jail or some type of institute to keep them away from the general public.
I don't think that any government should be able to kill its citizens or harm them because their job should be to protect them. They should figure out a more effective way to deal with the protesters without causing more violence.
What was the level of intensity of these protests? Most likely not intense enough to involve killing civilians. This shows the lack of structure this government has.
The government has a right tto attempt to control its citizens and prevent harm or damage from being done to other civilians or property of the city. However, the government also has a moral obligation to protect it's citizens. The government shouldn't be allowed to harm the Venezuelan people. If they decide to use "crowd control" tactics, they should be nonviolent and they hsouldn't be killing people of its own country.
I think the government should only use violence when it is necessary or the situation could get worse. They should only kill if their lives are being threatened.
No i don't think the government should kill their people for standing up for what they believe in. Instead of killing the people they should figure out a way that's not as violent.
The government's job is to protect it's people. I definitely don't think the government are justified in killing ANY of their citizens no matter the situation. The killings will most likely result with more violence and protests. If the citizens are exerting violence the government and military should take appropriate measures to stop and control it but they shouldn't kill anyone.
Well i think its basic morals and common sense that no government should harm nor kill its civilian especially when the government is made for the citizens by the citizens. the killings will probably never be justified since it was the government and they have more power than citizens and will just look the other way. However if protests become violent they should be alolowed to use force to try to disperse it for the saftey of not only them but for the citizens as well.
I do not think that the government should be able to kill it's own citizens in order to control protests. There are other ways in which they can help to control and contain these protests.
The government should not be allowed to kill or harm its civilians. I do think that they should be allowed to control the protests, however i think they should do so without putting their citizens in danger. The government has an obligation to keep its people safe and harming them would not be doing that.
The government should not be allowed to kill civilians even if it is to try to regain control of a mob. That just makes the mob even more dangerous and escalates the entire situation.
