"Schools across Newfoundland will remain closed for another day as crews try to restore the integrity of the island's electrical system, which has been plagued with problems since last Thursday. "
"Temperatures reached as high as 9 C on Tuesday, with the island expected to plunge into negative temperatures after midnight"
How do you feel about schools closing because of these harsh weathers that has been occuring?
This harsh weather is really affecting the educational system but there seems to be nothing we can do to prevent it. I think it's good they closed the school since it would be unsafe for the students to attend especially if the electrical system is suffering from major problems and the weather will be in the negative temperatures.
There is no other option but to keep the schools closed. Even if they chose to hold class the likelihood that anyone would be able to pay attention would be slim to none. We all know how we get when it rains, imagine if the lights were out and everyone was frozen too!
The schools should be closed down, it is too dangerous to be outside in negative degree weather. And it's is also extremely dangerous to drive since it is difficult to in the ice covered streets.
Definitely think they are smart for keeping the school closed, I mean I could barely pay attention this morning during band rehearsal on the track because I was so cold and it was only like 60 degrees...these people are in negative degree weather, that's not suitable for learning in any way, shape, or form.
