Lego, Cav (the Lego brand name was derived from the Danish expression "leg godt" - play well - and lego also translates in Latin as "I study" or "I put together"...really, one of the world's most perfect words!)
I dont think it should be illegal. But I think it should be called something other than marriage. I dont think that people who are gay should have less benefits or anything but I strongly believe that the definition of marriage is between a man and a woman.
I never understood why people cared if other people get married. it doesnt affect them in any way at all so let them get married, who cares? i think with so many people dying everday from starvation or disease or war, this world has enough problems without people squabling over what to do about gays that want to get married and what to call it. look at the bigger picture people!
defeats the purpose of Defense Against Marriage Act if all states are forced to accept these marriages. this ballot passed with a yes vote, give it a rest. The Court really shouldn't have the right to vote on this because thats disrespecting California's sovereignty of voting. let Massachusetts and Connecticut be happy with all the homosexual couples flocking there now.
1. It is completly in the people's rights to amend their constitution and if the judges vote this down then they will set a limitation on how the people effect their government.
2. Just cause something is constitutional doesn't mean it's right. (Prohibition anyone?)
3. It's not about prejudice (in most cases) It's about the rights of religion to conduct marriages how they teach them.
4. No court has ever said (Fedreal or state) that marriage is a right of any citizen.
So no matter how you feel about gay marriage voting no by the judges on this would be just as bad if they were banning doughnuts and walnuts. It's about the citizen's rights to amend their laws.

I agree with Vanessa I do not mind if they have the same rights as a married man and women would have, but I don't think they should call it marriage. Again as Vanessa said the definition of marriage is between a man and a women it is about keeping the name for the sake of religion.
I thought marriage was supposed to be between two people who love each other unconditionally and want to devote their lives to one another. And think about this: Divorce is accepted, but i don't see any religious people taking a stand against divorce and wanting to change it. But with gay marriage, people stop in their tracks and say no. it doesn't make sense. Marriage is rarely being taken as seriously today, so what would it matter if a couple of gays get married? And dido to geriatric1991.

If you can think of a solution to divorce I would like to know it. The catholic church doesn't just roll over for a anulment you have to have a super good reason or they still consider you married. Back in the day teen pregos and divorces were taboo now they are just the way of life. I wonder what political party tends to advocate on the side of social reform making a fatherless (or motherless) household acceptable. Probably the same one that came up with the dumb idea of teaching no sex before marriage then offering condoms.

Regardless of what people want I think gay marriage will eventually (in the near future) be legalized because even churches, like the United Church of Christ are beginning to support gay marriage. The number of supporters for gay marriage is rising and those who are against it are in an awkward position because the general view is that if you don't support gay marriage you're narrow minded and/or a hater. With even the main opponent of homosexuality beginning to sway (religion) it won't be long before it's legalized nationwide.
Sort of side note: Since the argument against gay marriage (homosexuality in general) is, it is morally wrong, If someone wanted to argue about it they'd have to decide whether they believe morality is created or discovered (like multiplication tables). Also they'd probably discuss whether they believe truth is relative or absolute.

Problem is it's those that support gay marriage are those that call people haters and prejudice. It's not that they feel wrong about this situation but noone wants to be seen that way. It's not conforming it is abusive language and completly anti-tolerance which many supporter of gay marriage preach.

I definitely think Monica nailed it. And as for the word 'Marriage,' it was once used to describe a Holy Matrimony, where two people promised their lives and futures to each other. Marriage now is used to loosely; it even describes what you do in Vegas when you're drunk...Marry a stranger at a drive-thru chapel. Elvis ya! But anyway, I honestly believe that saying this holy union shouldn't be called Marriage is profiling...like racial profiling only with sexuality, and profiling of any kind never fair.
If you can think of a solution to divorce I would like to know it.
Not a solution to divorce, I'm saying most religious people don't say anything about making it (for a lack of a better word) illegal even if the church is against it. Catholic churches won't marry a couple if one of them has been divorced. Likewise, they won't marry a gay couple- but they make that a bigger deal.

That's because a marriage is between a man and a woman in the eyes of the catholic church. So it's not just about the person but about the relationship in which they are binding two people. Your asking them to either support gay marriage or not allow someone who had a legitamite reason to get divorced to remarry. The teachings of the catholic church have never supported gay marriage and never will. It's not about hypocrisy it's about standing on principle.
Divorces and gay marriage are on two diffrent levels.
