Her stepfather was arrested in the 10-year-old girl's rape case and denies the wrongdoing and demands a DNA test. Doctors learned the girl was pregnant after she entered a hospital for abdominal pain. The problem is, Paraguayan law bans abortions except in cases where mother's life is in jeopardy and the Paraguayan Ministry of Health says there's no indication that the health of the girl (now 22 weeks pregnant) is at risk.
"A 2013 United Nations report said that 2 million girls under age 14 give birth in developing countries every year, many of whom suffer resulting long-term or fatal health problems. It estimated that 70,000 adolescents die each year from complications from pregnancy or childbirth."
An international rights group is already pressing the Paraguayan government to allow the abortion.
I am not a supporter of abortion, however I also feel like the government should not have the right to force a woman to have a child, especially in such a complicated circumstance.
I personally am not a supporter of abortion either but I think that it's very important for women to have the option. In a rape case like this, especially since she is only 10 years old, she should be an exception to their law
I do not support abortion but i understand the circumstances on why people do it. I think in a case like this, a women should be allowed to but i do not think that people should get abortions just to do it.
