President Obama has the authority to attack IS but wants clear approval form lawmakers. This measure would only last for three years and would not allow ongoing combat operations.

Do you think we should step in and use military force against these Islamic State militants?
I feel like something needs to be done about the ongoing terror in the East and that we as Americans are responsible for protecting ourselves as well as defending others from extremists that are causing harm. However, I'm not completely certain that military force is the best option as it may lead into an elongated and bloody war.
I believe that it is essential for the U.S. to fight back against ISIS. However, I do believe that Congressional approval is necessary. As Obama stated, "Backing from Congress would send a powerful message that the US was united in its opposition." If Congress can't approve the attack, the US won't be unified and it wouldn't be long before things in the US could get nasty.
I would hate to lead this to military force, but if it absolutely needed, we should. We are the greatest country in the world (duh), and I feel it is our responsibility to keep being that country who looks at war both ways. As a country with freedom of speech, we look sensitive a caring by not going to war, yet strong and determined by wanting to go to war (having your cake and eating it too). I'm confident with America and whatever we decide to do, I just want all of these terrible crimes to end somehow.
Yes I do think that we should step in and take control the chin in Iraq that ISIS has created. I think that is important that we show the terrorist organizations that we don't mess around with people like them.
