A Saudi Arabian man has reportedly divorced his wife after she sent him a video which showed her driving the family car. The woman filmed herself driving in a public place and then sent the video to her husband a to surprise him with her joke. The man has now filed divorce papers, and reportedly told a judge that his wife broke not only the law but also social traditions and norms. Women in Saudi Arabia are subject to de facto ban on driving, however, many who are opposed to this "social norm" say that some attitudes are changing.
How do you feel about the man's reaction? How do you feel about the de facto (traditional/custom) ban on driving for women? Do you criticize the man for breaking up their family over something like this? Or praise him for defending traditional customs?
The man overreacted and if its their laws in that country, that is kinda weird law. The ban on driving for women is totally wrong. The man should not divorce his wife!
I think it's literally retarded. Women can't drive because of tradition. This is stupid i hope she finds a cooler husband. I'm pretty sure there is no scripture in the Quran that reads "Then Allah said no driving automobiles for women because it is a sin and also she can't go to school..." He's an idiot...
i agree with Garrett because it is the mans customs but i think he overreacted and he shouldn't have broken up his family over it. Women should be able to drive. although its a law in their country i think that this could make a lot of people realize how stupid that law is, and hopefully push for change.
I think it is disgusting that someone would divorce their wife that they supposedly love over such a thing. The wife is lucky she got out of that relationship because clearly it was unhealthy and she is better off without him. The ban on women driving is incredibly stupid in the first place. It just makes women dependent on men and incapable to do certain things on their own.
