Thousands of critically ill or unconscious patients have been enrolled without their consent in crtical trials to test treatments in New Zealand hospitals. Do you think it is right for them to be giving drugs to those not aware? What would be your reaction if the patient was a family member?
If my family member was receiving drugs they did not know about i would be very upset. If the patient can not agree to them, another family member or nect to kin should have consent over what drugs are being put into their bodies.
I think it is your right to know what you are being given, they are taking advantage of people who can't help themselves. I would be very upset and probably go to court if I learned they were doing this to a member of my family.
I think that you should have the right to know what medication you are putting in your body because if a doctor gives you a medication that is not fully tested and approved it could be very dangerous to your health.
The patient and the family members should be aware of what kind of treatments the patient is getting and what risks they are taking. The hospital should not treat their patients as guinea pigs and experiment on them without the consent of the patient and/or the family members. They should be penalized for their wrongdoings.
I think this is very wrong, no person should be a test dummy for drugs without their consent. I think its ok to have a close relative to give the ok, only if the patient said it was ok to do so on written paper.
This is very upsetting to me. It's almost as though these people are being treated like mice in a labratory. It is important to have patient consent when you do anything, especially something potentially risky and harmful. If the patients were comatose, their families should have been contacted and asked to give approval for their loved ones to be administered these drugs.
It is not fair to them that they are being subject to this medication without their consent. They should always be aware with what may affect their own body.
if i was lying there hooked up to a machine that's keeping you alive and i'm brain dead and i'm probably never going to wake up.... idgaf what they give me. If there is a chance that it might wake me up and save me then give it to me. I'd rather try anything than lie there brain dead and dying. Pull the plug or shoot me up don't just leave me a vegetable.
I do not think that this is right. You should not be giving patients drugs without them being aware. If this was a family member i would be very upset about this.
They should not be administering drugs to any patients without consent of the patients themselves or immediate family. I would be very upset if this were to happen to one of my own family members.
This is definitely not okay and wrong in every sense. I can understand that they are looking for proper treatments but testing it on people with out their consent is not okay. This could actually be even more detrimental to their health. If this happened to one of my family members I would be infuriated and I would do everything in my power to make sure it does not continue.
