A plane carrying 97 people made an emergency landing in western Australia on Tuesday after one of its engines caught fire. No one was injured.Cobham Aviation Services said one of the plane's four engines caught fire as it was climbing shortly after takeoff from Perth Airport. The British Aerospace BAe 146 jet, which had been heading to Barrow Island off the west Australian coast, returned to Perth and landed safely. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
When getting on a plane I would be skeptical about it due to all the recent incidents. It wouldn't necessarily stop me from going on planes just a little more worried. The companies should definitely fix whatever the problem is as soon as possible so that way they don't lose business.
There are actually more chances of dying in a car rather than a plane so this wont change anything for me. I die I die, Life goes on. Well not for me but for everyone else:)
I am afraid to fly, but I think the fear is a bit irrational. We have a chance of getting seriously injured or dying in everyday life experiences, and planes are often a lot safer than the everyday activity of driving a car. There should be an investigation of the plane/airline, and until a cause is discovered I don't think there's much that can be done. They are very fortunate that no one was hurt.
I fly in airplanes often, and since I was very young. I have always been pretty afraid of it. I have never had a bad experience but just the thought that you're so high in the air and after hearing stories such as this one and ones like this you never know what could happen. There should be more tests and thorough inspection before an airplane is allowed to fly.
I'm not too scared of flying unless there was like snakes on the plane or something. If so, then I might need like Samuel L. Jackson on board. I think the plane company should try to find and fix the problem and to make sure the other planes are malfunctioning.
I hate flying regardless of the incidents but i do believe that the company should make a statement reassuring their passengers that this doesn't happen often and fix the problem.
I am not afraid to fly nor does this make me afraid to fly. There is a very slim chance of anything happening and there is a risk in everything that you do nowadays!
I have never enjoyed flying whatsoever but this does not make me afraid to fly. Perhaps they should inspect their planes just to insure they're alright.
I rarely go on planes but I would not be scared because when getting in any moving vehicle there is a chance of death and it is not worth the effort to be constantly worried. Also, there is very little chance I will be on a plane that something goes wrong on.
I go to either Canada or England every year on vacation and I'm not scared of flying at all. The news only likes to report tragedies and that is why flying is considered dangerous. Fatal car accidents are far more common than plane accidents.
