An Islamic court in northern Nigeria has sentenced a man of 63 years old to death by stoning for raping a girl of 10 years old and infecting her with HIV.  Ubale Sa'idu Dotsa admitted raping the girl but said he had incited by the Devil, reports the AP news agency.  Kano state's commissioner of justice Maliki Kuliya told the BBC Hausa service that Mr Dotsa has the right to appeal up to the federal Supreme Court, which could take years.

Do you think he should be punished and put to death? Do you think he should dealt with immediatley rather than be given a long amount of time to appeal to the government?

I think he should be put to death because he did something bery nasty and bad! This should be dealt with immediatley to get it over with and because it is a seriuos issue!

I don't think he should be out to death but i think he should be in jail for the remainder of his life and this should be dealt with immediately he already confessed.

he should be put to death for that disgusting act that he did, there is no excuse for raping a 10 year old and it is unforgivable. he definitely deserves whats coming to him!

This man should be dealt with immediately. I've said it before that I do not support the death penalty so I don't think he should be put to death, however, this man should be punished for his crimes.

stoning is a very harsh punishment in this day in age, instead he should be sentenced to life in prison.

I think he deserves whatever is coming to him. He raped an innocent 10 year old and gave her an std that she will have to live with for the rest of her life, that is unforgivable.

I think he should be sentenced to life in prison for his actions. He raped a 10 year old girl and gave her HIV! What kind of bologna is that?

I definitely think he deserves to be put to death because he has scarred that girl for life and possibly even killed her by giving her HIV.

He should be punished for his unforgivable crime, yet I think stoning a person is way too cruel of a punishment. He should be sentenced to death or life in jail.

I think he should be sentenced to death right away. The government should not give him the chance to appeal. He did the crime and admitted to it. He will get what the government thinks is appropriate for his crime.

I think he should spend life in prison, the death sentence is the easy way out. He should have to suffer in jail until he passes of old age.

This man should be sentenced to death right away because he committed an atrocious crime. He basically ruined this poor young girl's life by giving her AIDs. She won't ever be able to escape the emotional/sexual abuse that this man inflicted upon her.

He should definitely be punished but i am not sure about being put to death. He did not kill another human being, which is usually a standard for the death penalty. However, his case should not be postponed because over time it will only fade away

I think that this should be dealt with immediately. However i think that he should be sentenced to life in prison and not necessarily put to death.

I'm going go to be honest, I think that the perpetrator of the crime should be swiftly put to death, but not by stoning. The thing is, when you stone someone to death, you are inevitably going to alert the media and expose the story to more people, which is i'm sure exactly what the victim does not want to happen. But yeah, i'm definitely about justice over mercy. I personally believe the man's claims of being incited by the devil are complete garbage, but that's just me.

He should definitely be punished for his actions either by being put to death immediately or spending life in prison, he admitted to this horrible crime that is absolutely disgusting and now he must pay the price. He has potentially ruined this girl's life and that is unforgivable.
