This may be happening in order to scare the people in Iran and Iraq from doing any crime and to greatly reduce the crime rates in these countries. My opinion on the death penalty is that it is okay only if the criminal had murdered another innocent person.
This is happening because of the crappy protection from anything in Iraq and the government knows it. So then they kill anyone for any reason just cuz they can.
i don't know why they would start increasing the number of people they execute the only idea i have is that they are maybe trying to clear out jails or are using these people as examples. I don't believe that people should be executed for non- lethal crimes.
The government in Iraq just wants complete control over everything and they are willing to resort to violence to get what they want, including murder. My opinion on the death penalty is that it is only appropriate if the person has been found guilty of a horrible crime beyond any reasonable doubt.
This is to radical, the death penalty should only be use for extreme cases. The Government should take really consider better punishments for their criminals.
I think its horrible that there is such a sharp increase in executions. "There has, however, been a steady decline in the number of countries performing executions over the past 20 years and Amnesty said there was progress in all regions last year."

the government is probably raising the rate because they just want to kill people and use it more, im not sure. It should not be used on things minor such as robbery and drug crimes, but is necessary for murder, adultery, or any other federal crime. It is a very necessary thing for certain crimes.
I think this is happening because the Iraq government just wants to take control over everything. The death penalty should not be allowed unless its an extreme crime not for something like robbery or drugs that's just ridiculous.
I think the Iran and Iraq governments are violating the civil rights of their people. The government's attempt to intimidate and suppress the people are resulting in sacrifice of innocent - to some extent - lives. People should get fair sentence that matches the weight of the crime they committed.
I think that it happened because they are trying to bring order through fear, make people fear for their life. My thoughts are that the death penalty is fine when necissary, I am a believer in an eye for an eye.
I feel that this may be happening in order to frighten people but there may be reasoning for it however nothing that I know of. The death penalty to me is something that is for sure abused and overused.
This is happening because the govt. is using the Koran as the universal law of the country. And if anyone doesn't obey the Koran, then they will be executed.
