Mr. Simbikangwa, a former intelligence officer who uses a wheelchair, was convicted of genocide of the members of the Tutsi ethnic group in the streets of Kigali. By his account,Pascal Simbikangwadid not see a single dead body.
On Friday, a French judge decided differently, sentencing Mr. Simbikangwa to 25 years in prison. Under international law, a country can claim criminal jurisdiction over a person who committed genocide regardless of where it was committed.
There is not enough information provided to prove weather he is guilty or not. I think that more information should be acquired and another trial held for this crime.
I think it should be proven before he is sentenced because 25 years is a long time especially if he isn't guilty. I think they should further investigate.
With such a serious topic as convicted of genocide or 25 years in prison, there needs to be more evidence to prove whether he committed that crime or not.
I think more evidence needs to be gathered before he is found guilty and sentenced. There isn't enough to off on and if the prosecutors are sure he is guilty they should find more evidence to backup and justify their accusation in order to convict him.
i do not know if he is guilty or not due to lack of evidence. But he should not be sentenced to 25 years without any solid evidence against him. It is unjust.
Did France take any inspiration from us that "all suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law"? There has to be enough valid evidence to put Simbikangwa in prison.
