A local beauty queen has died of a gunshot wound, becoming the fifth fatality from Venezuela political unrest, as imprisoned protest leader Leopoldo Lopez urged supporters to keep fighting for the departure of the socialist government. Tensions have risen in Venezuela since Mr Lopez turned himself in to troops on Tuesday after spearheading three weeks of often rowdy protests against President Nicolas Maduro's government.
The latest victims of the unrest included college student and model Genesis Carmona, 22, who was shot in the head at a protest on Tuesday in the central city of Valencia. She died later in a clinic.
Should the people continue their protest after all the fatalities and the protest leader turning himself in?
It is up to the people to decide on what fights to pick, and what beliefs to die for. Everyone protesting know what is at stake when they act upon this civil disobedience, and yet they still choose to fight for this belief shows how strong they feel about this.
The people should npot stop until their government agrees to compromise. Maybe by losing important and well-known citizens in the fight for improvement, the Venezuelan government will feel more pressure to makre a change. This may also encourage protestors to continue fighting because they lost a beloved citizen, and the beauty queen may become a type of martyr.
I think they needed to compromise or surrender since their leader is prosecuted. I do not think that there is much they can do now and need to remap out their plan.
if the people really want change that badly they will keep on protesting, i think they should keep up the work even with these casualties, because success always comes with consequences
If the government would get off their ***** and do something about anything then people will calm down and stop protesting. But until then nothing will change
i personally believe that people arent going to stop until they get what they want. why would they start protesting something and not go through with it? if the majority wants different for their government and its for the best then they might as well do so.
I feel that the people will not stop protesting until the government gives into change and gives the people what they want. To have this many fatalities also gives the country more negative publicity towards the government which may cause them to change.
