Tyler Manawaroa, a fighter on the popular TV reality show "The Ultimate Fighter" posted a racist picture on Instagram in 2012. This post was brought to the attention of the UFC during the show, because of his post he is not allowed to collect the grand prize which is a Six figure contract to fight in the UFC even if he wins the show. Do you think he should still be allowed to get a contract if he wins? If not do you think he should even bother continue fighting on the show? Do you think he should be given the chance to delete the post and apologize and still be able to fight for the prize?
I think that he should still be able to get the contract because he was already on the show and has worked hard. However, it is a smart idea that he is denied the right to come back next season. He should be given a chance at the end of the season to respectfully leave, but i do not think it is just to take him out immediately and ruin his chances. Everyone makes mistakes and yes he should be punished, but they need to show humane mercy for an athlete who worked very hard.
I think he should still be given the contract because taking that away over the picture is a bit extreme. If he could not get the contract then there would be no point for him to fight and he should not bother, unless he wants to for fun. He should definatley be given the chance to delete the post and apologize and still be able to fight because that seems like the logical thing to do that would cause the least amount of tension.
I think he should still get the contract. The contract goes to the best fighter and so just cause he is racist that should not effect him getting the contract if he is the best fight. In this age you mdo hqave to watch what you sqay and post though.
I don't think a stupid post online should ruin someones career like that. I think he should have a chance to apologize and take back what he posted online and still be able to receive the contract. If he still has the chance to go pro, he should go for it. If a single, crazy racist post ruined all that for him, then maybe he should have thought about that before posting.
I do agree with the UFC 's decision to ban him from collecting the grand prize even if he wins, because although all make mistakes and I feel that picture was highly offensive to African Americans and is very unprofessional of him. I thought that they might be overreacting until i saw the picture.
I don't agree with the UFC's decision to take away his prize. He probably worked really hard for that and will win it fair and square. However, I do think that he must be punished in some sort of way. He is a "celebrity", so his social media posts may have influence of lots of people, and he is not nearly being a positive example. This is just a reminder that everything you say online comes back to haunt you, so you really need to be careful and pause before you post.
I think he should still get the contract cause this happened two years ago and if it was really a big deal then they would have dealt with it that year instead of bringing it up now
I dont think they should take away his contract because he has put in so much time and hard work to get where he is. However i do think that he should receive some sort of penalty, maybe a deduction off his contract in order to get the message through that the UFC does not condone his actions and agree with his post.
