South Africa's government has ordered sculptors to remove a bronze rabbit they hid in the ear of a Nelson Mandela statue, unveiled after the former president's death last month.
Do you think this was disrespectful? Should they take it off the statue?
This seems extremely childish considering the sculptors' reason for the rabbit was because it symbolized the haste and pressure they were working under to complete it...I mean you cant say it isnt taking away from the statue as a symbol, when you add your own symbol that has nothing to do with the whole Mandela legacy youre essentially taking focus away...
This is kind of offensive. The statue is suppose to serve to remember Nelson Mandela and these sculptors put a rabbit in the ear because they felt rushed? These sculptors should take out the rabbit immediately and apologize for their childish actions.
If the rabbit is supposed to symbolize haste and a trademark signature it should not be placed within the ear of a major political hero. The statue is supposed to serve as a symbol of hope and is of great importance.
This is rude and childish. They had a job and a deadline, like most jobs in the world. The statue means a lot to many people. They should remove the rabbit and apologize to the public.
They took on a job, they were given a deadline, they should not complain about being rushed. They should remove the rabbit as soon as possible and apollogize for this whole incident.
I don't think that this was disrespectful. I don't think that they were complaining that they had to work hard, they were simply saying that they DID work hard. It was a signature of the sculptors.
I think the rabbit is cute, but they shouldn't put it in the statue's ear! That's kind of wierd. Also, the sculptors should apologize for their actions because that wasn't professional behavior on their part.
The reason behind the rabbit could be true, but my bovine feces detector is going pretty high right now. I think they just did it to be funny. and it was.
