" A New Zealand gas station owner who became an overnight millionaire after a banking error, and later an international fugitive, has pleaded guilty to seven counts of theft."
"Nicknamed the "accidental millionaire," Hui "Leo" Gao made headlines three years ago after he and his girlfriend fled the country when he accidentally received access to $10 million New Zealand dollars (U.S.$7 million)."
What would you do if you accidentally got millions of dollars?
I think he shouldn't be punished as heavily because it wasn't exactly his fault. It sucks because anyone in his situation would probably have done the same thing and thought they just got lucky.
On the other hand, with the way banks work, it was probably many other people's money they were spending. So, thinking of it from that perspecitve, they should be punished.
I think the only reason he should be charged is because he fled the country. I mean if he got the money and then spent it because it was accidentally given to him than that's kinda the banks fault. But then fleeing as to avoid giving back money that's not even yours is punishable, though not harshly.
if i got millions of dollars i woulnt tell anyone at all unless i truly trusted them and it would probably only be elisha. Then i wouldnt invest into stocks and make more money so it seems like i made it all in the stock market. And POW im rich! :D
