The Northwestern University football team has come on hard times. After an impressive start to the season its in the midst of a five-game losing streak. And this week the school is caught up in a controversy about, of all things, a uniform that some say appears to be splattered in blood.
The Wildcats will play Michigan Wolverines at home on November 16, just five days after Veterans Day. The university teamed up with Under Armour and the Wounded Warrior Project to design a special flag-themed set of uniforms for the game.
One-tenth of the proceeds from the sale of replica uniforms will go to the Wounded Warrior Project, a public-service organization founded by veterans to support veterans whove been wounded on duty. And after the game, uniforms worn by players on the field will be auctioned off and 100% of that money goes to WWP.
After looking at the pictures you can see how the red can be mistaken for blood spatter. Although, in my opinion, since they did work with WWP to design the uniforms the "blood splatter" is okay because their main benefactor isn't offended by it and especially because so much of the profit from the jersey's and their replica's are going back to WWP.
What do you think?

I think because they actually worked with the organization to create the uniforms, they are okay. The "blood splatter" is not very prominent or depicted in a very violent manner. I think people really look for anything to cause a controversy. If the WWP approved and worked on the uniforms, they should be okay.
The school did ot intend the red streaks to look like blood, but intended the uniforms to represent a distressed flag. The fundraiser the school is holding is a noble cause and should be treated like one, not be called a controversy.
i read this article and it talked about how on the blue parts, it has a similar splatter design in blue. the "blood splatter" didn't seem intentional to me. i also read the comments on the article and saw numerous comments from real wounded warriors saying how people need to find other things to worry about which i agree with.
Since Northwestern University did work with the WWP, I don't see why the design would be a problem. The design that some are accusing of being similar to blood splatter looks more to me like a rugged American flag.
I think this was a good idea and the uniforms look really nice. I am sure that when they made the uniforms, they did not mean for it to look like blood splatter.
I think people are just trying to find something to complain about just to cause controversy. Personally, I love the idea of a worn flag, and the veterans have even said how it means a lot to them
I think that this is OK because if you take a look at the stars on the jersey you can see there is blue dripping down so i think the red is like a paint that is dripping down to add a cool affect to the jerseys so i think this is just to try and honor our vets and rise a little money nothing more.
