Once upon a time a poisonous cane toad lived in the South Sea Islands, unloved and unwanted. Condemned as an ecological disaster, the Australian army was even deployed to get rid of it. Then one day a Polish fairy waved her wand and the plain old cane toad turned into a precious fashion accessory. That's the story of Polish designer Monika Jarosz's luxury Kobja brand inspired by the fairytale idea of the "toad that transforms itself into Prince Charming".
Would you feel fashionably unique rocking this accessory? Or would you feel something edging towards...ridiculous?
This is an interesting way to contain these frogs which were destroying some of the other species they were living around. I think fashion usually starts out this weird but will get watered down. Next thing you know, we may be seeing fake frog necklaces in Target and Forever 21!
I find the accessories really strange but they seem like they serve a good cause by giving the designer material to work with and also by helping contain the species detroying frogs.
