The announcement that the Nobel Peace Prize would go to chemical weapons campaigners was met with a mix of schadenfreude and indifference in the Pakistani town where Malala Yousafzai lived and almost died. Many residents of Mingora, in the heart of the Swat Valley, feared a win for the schoolgirls high profile campaign against the Taliban could have She doesnt deserve it at all, he said, adding that there was widespread opposition to her efforts to get girls into school, a campaign many believed was being orchestrated by shadowy foreign forces. What about thousands of children who are here, under the shadow of Taliban and risk their lives every day? Malalas interviews overseas will not help girls here. provoked revenge attacks.
WHAT.DA.HELL
who does the banker think he is saying that she doesn't deserve a noble peace prize?!
she totally deserves it and I dont see the banker taking any action to do anything about the education problem
At least she is trying to make a difference, she almost died for what she believed in. I dont see the banker making an effort trying to help to promote education for girls.
The only reason this man believes she doesn't desrve it is because she opposes his personal beliefs. Malala is working for the betterment of girls in her country, and is obviously facing much opposition. Her bravery and unhindered will are astounding.
How does she not deserve her nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize? Malala Yousafzai has been using her words to relay to the world that education for women is being halted by the Taliban. Simply Malala using her new status to spread this message is making a big impact to the world, people want to know her story and therefore people know the injustices caused by the Taliban.
It's ridiculous that people don't believe that she doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize but I understand how they are saying this mostly out of fear for their lives and their family's lives. It takes courage to speak out against this sort of issue especially when you have death threats but she is technically "safe" since she's away from the direct control of the Taliban and the banker had a good point when he said that her interviews in America won't really have any direct effect on the girls in her homeland it'll just bring light to the issue and possible reprocussions from the Taliban. So overall it's never going to be a win win situation and I believe these people are speaking out against her winning the Peace Prize mostly out of fear...

Exactly the point. She deserves it, but it could potentially wreck havok in Pakistan with the Taliban killing even more women who want to attend school
Regardless of if she wins the nobel peace prize or not, we all know the impact she has made on the world. She is still getting the recognition she deserves.
I think if the people who did won made more of an impact and got rid of all chemical weapons in Syria it would have made more sense. But Malala deserved it. At least everyone is impacted by her story and supports her. She is truly an amazing person.
I believe that the Banker has the right to say his opinion about the matter and if he feels that way then so be it but what she did was truly a amazing thing and she does deserve to be recognized like she is today
I feel that these are two different types of peace. Malala is more of a civil rights and education type of peace, and the chemical campaigners are a more physical anti-murder type of peace.
