The British Columbia Coroners Service said investigators found a spoon with drug residue and a used hypodermic needle in the hotel room where "Glee" actor Cory Monteith was found dead in July Monteith had checked into the hotel on July 6 and when he didn't check out as expected on July 13, hotel staff entered his room and found him unresponsive on the floor. Two empty bottles of champagne were also found in the room. The investigation said Monteith had a history of illicit drug use with intermittent periods of rehabilitation and of abstinence from drugs. It said when people who have refrained from using opioids such as heroin for a while, their tolerance for the drug decreases.
This is so sad to hear, although it was suspected. He had so much potential to do great things and was on the peak of success, which is unfortunately the case with these types of deaths. I'm sure a lot of people will have tear filled eyes during Thursday night's tribute episode of 'Glee.'
Because such a druggy is such a good role-model, right? We should all strive to be like him, dead on the floor of a hotel room because of Heroine overdose. No, he was not a good role-model. Not if this was the way he behaved.
Yes, it is sad that he died because he was looked at as a TV star and role model to so many, but this got TONS of media attention because of the way he died. He died from using drugs and there are so many other TV stars that die and maybe get 2 articles posted about them from one or two media outlets. I think this is a sad story because he was addicted to a highly dangerous drug and died from it, but I don't think that it should have recieved more media attention as someone saving a life or a soldier dying for his country.
it is a tragic thing especially since he had so many fans and people that looked up to him. he's had history of drug abuse and has been to rehab and recovered and its a really sad thing to see that he couldnt handle it anymore
This is no doubt a sad thing that has happened but i think something to take away from this is that drugs are a very prevalent thing in Hollywood and i think a closer eye needs to be paying attention to the drug habit that lays in Hollywood.
This is so sad. Ive watched Glee since it started and I really liked him on there. It sucks that this happened to him especially after he tried to get help and quit his drug use. Unfortunately there are many others who have this same problem and die because of it.
Whyyy?? This man though. I feel like someone knew about his depression just didn't care enough to say something. I've known people in my life that were depressed and that excuse of "he hid his depression" is complete bull-spit.
I think some people are being way too hard on him and the idea that he was a "role model". Yes, the way he died was tragedy and a sad example of how choosing to cope with difficult situations with drugs is stupid. But, he obviously touched many people and his death sheds light on the problem of celebrity drug use and also the general problem of drug use. He may not be a good "role model" because he used drugs but being an actor & putting himself out there could be an example of how to be a good outgoing person. Likewise his death could be a reminder and an example for teens of what not to do...
