Tolokonnikova was sentenced in 2012 to two years for her involvement in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour incident. She is now isolated in her own cell and claims that prisoners are not being treated fairly. Do you think our jail system is better or worse than in other contries?
well its all different honestly. some places you dont even get a bed. some places people get killed just for walking on the wrong side of the yard. some places the food isnt even up to health codes standards. and some the mentally unstable dont get the help they need and end up committing suicide! yes they should be better but also jails and prisons shouldnt be this great amazing place because you broke the law and deserve to be in a harsh enviroment to get the messsage across that you did something wrong.
Like Janaynay said, some jails are different...they all tend to vary but overall most of the inmates get better treatment and care than some of our senior living centers. These people broke the law(s), they are getting way better treatment than i personally think they deserve. And I know some of the guard staff, in OCSD at least, are only "harsh" when inmates step out of line. And some of them do it on purpose so if the guard retaliates a little too harshly they then look like the victim...ok inmate rant over :)
It really does depend on where you go in the world because in some places you get killed for stealing or you can go somewhere else and have a cell to your self and have a flat screen in there. so it's all different based on where you are at.
ya prisons shouldnt be a place you should want to go..... so it should be a bad place.... not lawless.... but enough to make you regret your bad decisions. and like malia said inmates, some at least, want the upper hand and provoke guards to make them snap and the criminal now looks like the victim and the guard now seems like the criminal.
I think some jails too nice to the criminals. I think think they should be treated like animals. No tv, no games, nothing but out side time, and a piece of paper and a pen. Jail is suppose to be time out for Adults.
I think that some of our prisons are better than many other prisons in the world. However, a prison is a prison. There are different rules in there, which are mostly different from society's rules. If you think that jail is unfair, don't get put in there in the first place.

some people actually want to go to jail because of the treatment which just isn't right because jail is not a place people should end up. its supposed to be a punishment for a persons wrong doing
I think in some regions of the U.S the federal prison system is worse and in others it is more comfortable than it should be. This member of Pussy Riot has protested to the jail before by refusing meals and going on a hunger strike to appeal to the Supreme Court so maybe the Supreme Court should look more closely to her appeals since she believes she is being unfairly treated.
I think that prisons in the US are better than some in less developed regions of the world but are worse than the prison systems of more developed countries which actually focus on rehabilitating the offenders instead of just locking them in a cell.
