Japan launches talking humanoid robot into space

Kirobo, the world's first talking humanoid "astronaut", has been launched into space. It will act as a companion for astronaut Koichi Wakata and will communicate with another robot on Earth.

That's cool that they have such a robot. How long do you think it will take until robots take over other components of human tasks?

No because robots do not have to maintain themselves, they can be put in more dangerous positions, and don't have to worry about food (solar power is easy to get in space to power robots).

japanese robotics does seem to focus more on making robots cute and funny rather than productive. still cool though
