A new federal report blames a combination of problems for a mysterious and dramatic drop in the number of honeybess in the U.S.

The EPA says that the biggest culprit is a parasticit mite that latches onto the bee and breeds in the hive killing off the whole colony.

The problem has also hit bee colonies in Europe, where regulators are considering a ban on a type of pesticides known as neonicotinoids.

I personally think the biggest problem are the pesticides we use to grow our food, if they are poisonous to other crop eating insects they will be poisonous to the bees, we need to find safer pesticides to use and ban many that are already in use. "Once the bees go we go" - Albert Einstein

I don't have any clue how we can help the bees, but at least we can pinpoint where the problems are and work from there.

We might as well enjoy all our produce now because once the population of bees declines enough it's all going to go downhill.

If the honeybee population declines that means they wont be producing as much honey as they have the potential to produce and then the price of honey will skyrocket because it will be so rare! Americans love thier honey spreads and flavored honey sticks, and if the price rises there will surely be some kind of complainhoney lovers. Then there will be the complaint from the endangered species organizations to save the honeybees. Lets just avoid all these whiners and figure out a way to kill the parasites before it is too late!
