Conservatives and liberals in Canada have been fighting over the years about whether there is a need for more sex education for the youth of Canada.A new study praising the benefits of sex education and recommending more of it looked at birth and abortion rates for girls aged 15 to 19 in Canada, the United States, England/Wales and Sweden. The liberals are very happy with the positive results: The study presents data showing that between 1996-2006 Canada's teen birth rate went down by 38% (22 births per 1,000 girls in 1996 to 13 per 1,000 in 2006). From this information, liberals now want to implement more sexual education in schools.
Do you think its a good thing to have more sexual education classes to be more knowledged? Did you learn much in your health class freshman year? Do you think schools should teach more about sex? Do you think that by knowing more it will help you to make better decisions about sexual activities?

I do think its a good thing for us to learn about it, and if its not taught we still would probably learn about it, I think I did learn alot freshman year although i was very immature. I think knowing more will help you out, for example STDs and such.

I think that having health class your freshman is a good requirement to have. I learned alot in health class. I think that alot of students in high school already have an opinion about what they do outside of school so I dont really know if it would help students make better decisions.
I think it will help to have more sex ed education. As a young girl if you knew nothing about it and a boy tried to take advantage of you, you really wouldnt have a clue and you could be put in a bad situation. its important to know this stuff it helps especially if your a child and your parents never talked to you about it
I learned alot in sex ed with Kurz... I think that it is good to have sex ed in schools forsure..
But just to add something, I watch 16 and Pregnant allllll the time and its really supposed to make you want to make different decisions when it comes to your body and what you do with it. However I kinda think the show makes girls want to have babies at a young age.. Not me personally, but think about it.. If the wrong girl watches it, she'll see that each of the stars of the show gets to be on tv, and even though we see all of the hardships that these young mothers face at the end they all say that they wouldn't trade it for the world. Don't you think this show somehow glorifies teenage pregnancy?
i think that sex ed is very important. yes it may be akward and weird but its alot of stuff you should know. i think that having our health class is so great because you learn so much from it. i also think that if you know more about sex and diseases then your less likely to do something stupid.
Haley, i have seen that show too!!! and i really do think that it glorifys teenagge pregnancy. its soposed to show what not to do but it doesnt seem like it really gets the point across well.

i think schools shouls definately have sex ed classes. As for me I don't think I really learned anything from it and also I really didnt pay that close attention but i think it is a necessary class to take.
My teacher wasn't so great at teaching sex ed in my freshman year. I remember a few things. Yes, I believe the class does help with choosing better choices for the future.
Sex ed was pretty helpful way back when in 6th grade I'd say. I didn't learn much in middle school or high school from it. It should still be implemented though
