Brazilian authorities are investigating three priests accused of sexually abusing altar boys after a video allegedly showing one case of abuse was broadcast on television, police and church officials said.

The case came to light after the SBT network aired a video purportedly showing an 82-year-old priest having sex with a 19-year-old altar boy who worked for him for four years. Other young men appeared on the report saying that they, too, had been abused by Monsignor Luiz Marques Barbosa.

SBT said the video was sent anonymously to the network, and reporters went to the town of 200,000 people to investigate last month.

Do you think this video should have been aired on the network? What should happen to the priests?

This video should not have been aired on the television. This poor boy had something terrible happen and to have it exposed to everybody is ridiculous. The network should be punished for airing the video. As for the priests, they need to go to jail for a very long time. What they did was horrible and should not be forgiven.

I find this really sad. I do not understand why would the priest do this especially in his age. I think priests who makes a scandal like this should be removed from his position. Its really a pity what these priests do nowadays that gives a bad image to the catholic religion. I think the video should not be aired since like what I said, it gives a bad image to the religion. no

This confuses me. The boy was 19... wouldn't that mean he knows whats going on and the priest was 82... now if he is 82 I am sure he could over power him. It doesn't make sense to me.

i dont thinik that this should have been aired on TV and i think that the priest should have serious consquences

I don't know if it should have been aired, because not only is the priest infamous but the reputation of the alter might have been ruined as well!

The altar boy is 19 and the priest is 82. It's obvious that the boy could have overpowered him.

I think it defiantely should not have been aired no matter how old the guy was if he was 13 or 19

This definately should not have been aired. But i don't understand how the guy was 19, because I would think that he would be able to overpower an 82 year old man. This is very wrong of priests though because it makes the Catholic Church look bad.

what that is just plain old stupidity for the network showing something like that. It is highly offense. The network should be punished. AS for the Priest he should be punished as well and kicked out of Priestly hood that his disgusting. I feel sorry for this young man that had to go through that traumatic experience for such along time and now to make it worse it is showed to everyone Im disgusted with the whole situation

Eh, yeah, I am confused.
The 19-year old could've clearly overpowered the 82-year old priest.
Oh man, there's a video of that? D:
It should be used only for investigation.
