President Obaama has called for a repeal in the don't ask don't tell policy in the US military. The policy forces men and women serving our country to lie about themselves so that they are able to serve.
Do you think sexual orientation should matter in the military?
Sexual orientation should not matter in the armed forces. Also, the government doesn't have the right to tell it's citizens to lie about anything. They shouldn't even encourage lying
I don't think sexual orientation should matter. Just because you are gay does not mean you can't defend our country just like someone who is straight. They are capable of completing the same job whether they are straight or gay.
If someone is willing to fight for their country it shouldn't matter if they are gay or not. Sexual orientation should not be the deciding factor if someone can fight in the war and should be the least of our worries.
I think the sexual orientation shouldnt matter and it is really dumb that it does. the government shouldnt be able to discharge you just for being gay.
I do not think that sexual orientation should matter. If homosexuals are willing to fight for our country, then they should be allowed to do so. It is nobody's business to tell them that they cannot fight for our country.
Sexual orientation should not matter in the military. It's like asking someone what religion they are and kicking them out because they're not the same religion as the others. It doesn't make any sense at all to have this policy. Especially when a country is in war, having enough troops is a vital thing. Things like this makes me wonder if I'm really living in the 21st century.
I think it would be discrimination to force a person out of the military because of their sexual orientation. They are reversing civil rights movement progress. We are not denying a black man to join the military any more, so I don't think they should have the right to deny anyone.
I think that its not right to keep someone out of the military based on their sexual orientation. If they are willing to serve and protect our country, they should not deny them.
I don't think it should matter. If they are willing to fight for our country why should we kick them out? if they arent harming anyone in the military why not let them fight
Because of my beliefs I don't think there should be any gay people in the military. It goes against what the Bible says. They shouldn't even be allowed to hide that they're gay.

So you are saying that it is okay to discriminate against a certain group of people? What gives you the right to decide who can be in the military?
Honestly when in war sexual orientation should be the last thing you worry about. I think that it is completly unprofessional to judege a person based on their sexual orientation. We are all American citizens and if we want to serve our country our sexual orientation shouldnt matter
I agree with the statement being made that sexual orientation should not matter, especially when he is bringing honor to our country. This man is risking his life for us and we cannot accept a decision he has made that really doesnt affect us.
I believe that sexual orientation should not matter especially in the military because someone's sexual orientation won't affect how they fight for our country.
I think that if people are willing to lay their lives on the line to defend our country, their sexual orientation should not matter. The majority of Americans would not do this, so if someone who happens to be homosexual chooses to enlist in the Military, Americans should be thankful of their bravery, instead of judging and scrutinizing them.
I dont think that being gay should have an effect on fighting and having the will to die for your country. Between gays and straights we are all people and should be treated the same. If they dont want to hide that they are gay they shouldnt have to, its freedom of speech and they shouldnt be punished or kicked out of the military for being honest. When a person hears about a gay guy or girl being in the military they just judge them on that but they dont look at the big picture and that is that person is fighting for our country and protecting us including that person who is judging the gay soldier. People can judge them but they wont stand up and fight for our country like they are.
