Dubai defys the Global Economic Downturn with New Developments

Dubai is set to open many new buildings in 2010 and has already opened many new attractions in 2009. Dubai has pioneered some of the world's most exciting and extraordinary developments and 2010 will be no exception. Standing head and shoulders above other destinations, Dubai's offering will reach new heights when the world's tallest building opens early next year, along with a number of new hotels, sporting facilities and epic ground breaking developments opening in the coming months. These high profile new developments are a clear sign that the emirate is moving into a period of recovery.

Here are some pictures of some of Dubai's Developments.
1. Burj Dubai (Worlds Tallest Building)
2. Palazzo Versace Hotel
3. Palm Jumeirah (Huge Artificial Island shaped like a Palm Tree)
4. Ski Dubai (Huge indoor Ski Resort)
5. Dubai Metro (When Complete will be the largest Metro System on the Planet)
6. The Famous Sheikh Zayed Road in 1993
7. The Same Road in 2009

Do you think what is going on in Dubai is cool or madness?

the third one, the little island thing is really cool. i saw something on tv where they were building it. Its not just for looks, it actually helps protect them, pretty cool.

I think this is cool. Everything looks so futuristic, like the buildings. The hotel looks really nice and I think it is cool how they can make an artificial island in the shape of a plam tree. I find this all really cool&would love to go down to Dubai to see it all(:

What do you mean by "but still"? I just want to know why you have some doubts or disagreements on what they are doing in Dubai

I think that during the global recession when things were really bad Dubai realized that they needed to slow things down and not go insane with these buildings. So hopefully nothing happens to Dubai now that they are experiencing some growth again.

Haha Dubai is a joke they are in a MOUNTAIN of debt and yet everyone is praising them. LOL nice to see how things work
