I agree with you Matt, I don't believe children or teens should be involved in anything war related. Even if it's training. If they want to go into the military, then they should do it properly and with proper training in the bootcamps.

How is this war related? Ever heard of video games? nuff said

You just proved her point. Lets look at video games. I am assuming that you play these war video games and then look at your stance on issues. You don't believe in gun control and you think we should be at war. These video games where many teens spend countless hours playing make our society more aggressive, violent and less opposed to war.

First of all, just because i play "war" video games, it does not make me any more inclined to go kill someone or start a war. You say that video games make our society more aggressive; that is just an excuse for some people to blame things on. If some kid wants to kill someone, he is going to do it, regardless of if they ever played video games. I personally find it quite funny you try to relate video games to affecting a person's personal opinions about guns and war. And i believe that we should be at war, not because of a video game i play, but because of the fundamental reasons that we are at war to begin with. And have you not read any of our posts on gun control? We state why we believe there shouldn't be any restrictions, why it would be beneficial, and NONE of the reasons have anything to do with video games. And if video games cause people to want no gun restrictions, how do you explain the older generations that didn't have video games and STILL want no gun control? Video games are not the source of our anti-gun control views; simple logic and statistics are, along with a firm belief that we are entitled to ALL of our rights in the Constitution, not only the ones the democrats deem appropriate when they feel like it.

P.S. The previous week's topics were locked to post on, so i created this post that stems from the Boy Scout Gestaop Post from last week. Please continue your debates.

Woah, defensive much? I was not trying to claim that violent video games completely form your opinion. I was simply saying that video games can contribute to making society more violent. On the contrary, maybe video games are a reflection of how violent our society already is. Maybe, it is natural for people who want zero gun control to find relaxation and solitude playing a violent video game. I'm not sure. You could probably tell me.

What's the attraction of playing a violent video game?
Do people feel more powerful when the 'kill' someone in a video game?
Does their self esteem go up?
What happened to playing outside?

On sunday I helped my boyfriend do a psychology project where he had to interview a 10 year old kid.
He asked him: "Why do you like playing with toy guns"
and he said straight faced: "because i like making people suffer"
This kid whom i've babysat multiple time is not some freak-weirdo kid. Obviously he has an emotional issue for making this statement, maybe from playing violent video games? ;)

Also, Why are you saying "we" and "our"? Can you not take a stance on an issue without support from your friend?

p.s. I do not appreciate what you said Karl, it hurt my feelings. It would be a kind gesture if you retracted your statement. When you insult me it makes me not want to listen to your opinion and tempts me to stoop down and make a personal attack as well. So the end hahaha :)

When i used the terms "we" and "our" i was speaking for me, on behalf of my friend, and those other people in the class who support anti-gun control, like  i think Sean too (hope that's ok, Sean, lol). And i can most definitely take a stance on an issue without "support from my friend" as you say, but like i said before, i was also speaking for others and it seemed like your comment was more directed to Karl when i decided to respond, and i know what he generally would have said, which agrees with my views on the topic. If it gets you that worked up, I'll just use the terms "I" and "me" from now on. And the "attraction of a violent video game" is simple. It is a fun game. I also play video games that are not based around war. I only play it because i happen to find it to my enterainment. And lol, i dont feel "more powerful" when i kill someone in a video game, nor does my self-esteem go up. As i already stated, it is a fun game. Nothing more, nothing less. And fyi, i do play outside, a lot. But seeing the course this topic has taken about simulated war, i will decline to state the actual nature of my outdoor activities in which i choose to partake.

And, seeing as how i am anti-gun control, as you stated earlier, i don't find solitude or relaxation, as you say,  in playing violent games. I have those views because, honestly, no gun control is worse than total gun control. And we have the right to bear arms and i will not stand by to watch our rights get stripped from us.

"no gun control is worse than total gun control." so you are saying no control over guns is WORSE than control over guns? I could agree with that. I would think you would say it is BETTER...haha just giving you a hard time, but rephrase what you said because it is very contradicting.

I gave up trying to explain, which explains the clear frustration in the text. It wasn't an attack on you, and shouldn't be treated as such. You have the choice not to listen to the facts, thats fine because you are entitled to that. I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. As for the interview with the 10yr old; I truly don't know what to make of it. It could be that he might be a bit "touched" in the head and should be closely watched considering that statement he made. And Jake is right, our rights are being stripped away right in front of us.

There's no such thing as a good gun. There's no such thing as a bad gun. A gun in the hands of a bad man is a very dangerous thing. A gun in the hands of a good person is no danger to anyone except the bad guys."

-Charlton Heston, 15 Sept 1997, Fox News Channel

p.s. This is official, I give up on this debate, and that is final. I am done explaining my side on video games and guns. The facts are everywhere, its just a matter if you choose to look at them. Disclaimer: This is not a personal attack.
