Yes, it is way over the top. The 2nd amendment states that we have the right to bear arms WITHOUT INFRINGEMENT. And limiting ammo is clearly infringing on our rights.

This should be in law. Limiting citizens to a certain amount of ammunition in California is a good thing. I really hope that my neighbors dont have piles of ammunition and various guns in their house. I really do. America should have gun control. It really sad that just anyone can buy a gun. Just stroll into walmart and now you have a killing device. Great.
This is too much restriction and its useless because it wont improve anything. And Veronica, although I may not be your neighbor I'm pretty sure that I have what you would call "tons" of ammunition in my house. And I, nor any of my family, have never been a menace to society in any way. And for your information, not just anybody can buy a gun. There are strong backgroundchecks and regulations for those deciding to purchase a firearm. People who have a criminal record are not permitted to legally purchase guns. That is why they acquire them illegally, which is the reason people need guns: as a form of protection from those criminals. The majority of gun owners are nowhere close to being deranged criminals who intend harm. We buy guns because they are america's past time, for legitimate protection, and for safe sports enjoyment. Since criminals acquire their guns illegally, their weapons are not on record. This means that gun control does nothing but disarm responsible owners from their protection, not the criminals. But somehow the liberal bureacrats in sacramento dont seem to get that, despite the statistics and crime rates in other countries who strictly enforce gun control (Australia, England, Germany..).
P.S. Gun control is unconstitutional. The second ammendment affirms our right to practice this lifestyle.

I agree with Sean, in that the people who use guns to harm other people is a very small minority, just as radical Muslims are a small minority (as we discussed in another post...). While there certainly are those who will use guns to kill others, its a small number of people who are emotionally unstable.
Just look at Karl's signature... If these criminals are denied guns, they'll purchase them illegally or find another weapon. This is definitely unconstitutional and an infringement on personal rights.

"Correction: Assembly Bill 2062 would have put a 50-round monthly cap on ammo sales for a seller who didnt hold a special license to sell ammunition. An earlier version of this story implied the bill would have applied to all sellers." thats what the link goes to. IF it applies to people who do not have a license to sell ammunition thats ok. (although i don't see how they could sell it if they didn't have a license? I think some parts of this Bill is somewhat good, like making it a misdemeanor to knowingly sell guns/ammunition to a felon. but overall its infringing a little too much for my liking.
Honestly how does limiting ammo prevent people from killing other this is really stupid California needs to pull it's head out and realize that people kill people not guns all these laws do is make it harder to defend yourself "The deadlist wepon is a MARINE and his rifle " not a rifle and a marine, in other words you need someone to chamber a round and pull the trigger
