Polanski, who is a dual Polish and French citizen, was arrested Saturday as he arrived in Zurich to receive an award from a film festival. The United States has been seeking his extradition for having sex in 1977 with a 13-year-old girl.
I don't think the international outcry of support for Polanski should have anything to do with his release. However, the victim has asked that the case be dismissed because she has made her peace with the incident and settled with Polanski out of court. What he did was still incredibly wrong and he shouldn't have been able to escape his sentencing.
