In the past two years, 53 Albino people have been murdered in Tanzania.
Albino people are killed because potions made from their body parts are believed to bring good luck and wealth. Witchdoctors in Tanzania and other parts of East Africa have made tens of thousands of dollars from selling potions and other items made from bones, hair, skin and genitals of dead albino people.
The Tanzanian government has publicly stated its desires to end the killings. Officials banned witchdoctors from practicing, however many have continued to work.
What do you guys think can be done to stop these atrocities?

oh goodness... that's really... weird/scary/disturbing. i understand the culture is different and they have different supersticions but oh my. that is unbelievable. isn't murder just not allowed? police and law enforcement should really be looking out! murder is murder, no matter what cultures believe. it's just wrong, i hope the police will be stricter and keeping an eye out.
I think this is absolutely reprehensible, and something should definitely be done about it. The witchdoctors deserve to be sentenced to death, because they are serial killers who are trying to making a profit off of their crimes. I think it's terrible that people are afraid of being murdered and having their body parts sold in their own hometowns.
I could not believe my ears when I heard about this story!!! Needless to say, it is utterly ridiculous that albinos retain any magical powers at all! By killing and using this race for medicine, these witchdoctors are committing genocide of albinos....a rare type of person to begin with. I think that much stricter regulation should be enforced by the Tanzania government, because with 53 albinos dead, they clearly aren't doing all they can do. Why havent these witchdoctors been more harshly punished?!?! they were only simply forbidden from practicing witchery....which they still probably do! If i was an albino....i'd get the heck out of there!!!
oh my god. i dont even know what to say. this is so absolutely crazy ridiculous i cant even believe it could happen. anyone who is found still practicing witchcraft should be jailed for the rest of their lives
I know their supersticious and all but I think the farthest I would go for superstition is the Rooster and Pig tattooed on your feet so you dont drown.

I think that the albino people need to get some sort of protection. (guns) And if any witchdoctor was seen doing this they should either be shot or tried and sentenced to death. They are killing people and making money off of it... that's sick. Those people don't deserve to live.

the government need to step in and i mean right away. the world is seriously getting worse and worse. we all know what and how these things can be stopped, but its going to take someone using a little back bone. they need to stand up to their people, i mean they are the government, what are they so afraid of?
