Korean netizens gone too far?

Currently in South Korea there has been an uproar because of popular band 2PM. In early September korean netizens got a hold of, member and leader, Jay's myspace comments. in the comments there were things written like "I hate Korea" and "Koreans are gay" causing a stir on the internet; the comments were made in 2005.
Jay, born and raised in Seattle, Washington, was told to "go back to America" and to "leave the group." Jay did apologize offcially and asked for forgiveness, saying that he was adjusting to life in Korea because it was his first time living there and no one would accept him. Official statements came out from the management of 2PM saying that Jay was to not leave the group, but on September 7th Jay officially left 2PM shocking both fans and netizens alike. After a year of promotions with the group, Jay left 2PM and came back to Seattle on Sept. 8... because of myspace comments.

Netizens in Korea have been a problem for a while,in 2007 singer U;Nee commited suicide due to harsh and innapropriate comments on the internet caused by netizens. Not only to singers but Korea's former President Noo Moo Hyun and actress Choi Jin Shil commited suicide because of the excessive harsh and cruel comments ont he internet.

Have Korean netizens gone too far with the recent case of Jay?
