Two journalists are kidnapped along a riverbank in Kundus, Afganistan. New York times reporter, Stephen Farrell and Afgan journalist, Sultan Mundai are taken captive by Taliban hostage-takers on Saturday, September,6-2009. Farrell and Mundai are taken for a total of 4 days. Farell says that while in captivity, they were not shown any touture or ill-treatment of any kind. They were however, taken into the streets and laughed and mocked at by the children. During their rescue, Mundai is shot to death by british soldires, and Farrell is taken away to saftey.
It's events like this that make me fully support the war in Afganistan. When most of their own people aren't safe, tourists aren't safe, no one is safe becuase the taliban breeds hate into their children. They show them that it's ok to hate and kill other people who are different from you or who believe differently than you. It's not ok. And as much as i hate to think that it's ok for America to police the world, some times it's necessary in order to preserve human rights and protect the citizens of the world and do what in my opinion is right.
