If you think the government is watching your every move, that's crazy, but if you think the government is too good or too honest to try it, that's naive. Whether in the name of fighting crime, communism, terrorism, anarchy, military enemies, or just in the name of patriotism, our government has watched us before and will watch us again. As technology improves, privacy as we know it will inevitably evaporate... the best we can hope for is the power to watch the watchers.
Project Echelon (1947-Present)

For six decades, the global Project Echelon has been used to surveil an unknown amount of material with an unknown degree of specificity. While defenders of the project claim that its technology is only used in legal ways, some charge that it is easily abused--and a few have even argued that Echelon has been used to illegally assist with strategy in international business deals.
What other government surveillance programs are there that we don't know about?
THE GOVERNMENT IS WATCHIN'

Straight from the article you posted.
There has been a capability for many years to listen for specific words, to filter them out. But in terms of listening to every conversation or every email throughout the world, that's just wild speculation," Best told SPACE.com.
He just said like the rest of the article that this is all just speculation and people being paranoid. Did you even read the article?

I don't think there is any reason to be worried about it or oppose it unless there is something you don't want them to find out about you...and if you dont want them to find out, thats probably because its wrong and you shouldnt be doing it anyway.
exactly, if ur not doing anything wrong u dont have to worry...if theyre that paranoid that they have to spy then we cant do anything about it....just dont do anything illegal and we wouldnt have to worry
personally i dont really care....and things like this was made legal under Patriot Act 2001, so disagreeing with them isnt gonna do much if anything.
