Turkish authorities have released a Syrian man who was arrested last week in connection with an alleged plan to kill President Obama, a senior U.S. official said.
The Saudi paper reported that the Syrian man, who was carrying an Al-Jazeera TV press credential in the name of "M.G.," confessed to authorities after his arrest that he and three alleged accomplices were plotting to stab Obama with a knife during the Alliance of Civilizations Summit in Istanbul, which Obama attended Monday evening.
Do you think this man shouldve been released? He was trying to kill the President for goodness sakes
why the heck did they release him? he didn't kill him...yet. what makes you think he's gonna stop or not try again? plus it kind of makes us look like we don't care enough about our president to keep a man locked up for confessing he was gonna kill him. we can't be pushovers.
well thank god officials captured this man. Well Obama's out of Turkey by now anyways and is probably heading home from Iraq. so he isn't much of a threat, he doesn't appear to be apart of any terrorist organizations.
WOW! I dont think he should have been released. But he shouldnt have to sit in jail forever. Someone needs to keep a close watch on him to make sure he stays away from Obama.
THE UNITED STATES DIDNT RELEASE HIM! :) This happened in Turkey. Turkey released him. What would have happened to him in the U.S.? were not really under war-time circumstances right now even though we are at war??? or am i completely wrong? :)
the guy im sure just wanted international attention because why would you admit to that otherwise? and so i believe it makes sense to have released him although whether i would have done it or not, im not so sure...
i dont think this man should have been released if he has plotted and statted he was going to stab the president..they should keep a close eye on him if anything.
If he had been in the U.S. I think he for sure should NOT have been released but since he is in Turkey... I think customs needs to be notified to make sure he doesn't try to come into the U.S. but other than that, theres not much to do but watch him.
Even though Obama's no longer in Turkey, Turkish officials still shouldn't have released this potential assassin out in the open. What prevents him from traveling to other Middle Eastern countries and killing Obama at a later date? Nothing... he traveled to another Middle Eastern country once. He can do it again.
Although I'd prefer to have behind bars, if he's served his sentence then I suppose it's only fair for him to be released. As for his failed attempt., I doubt the President can be taken out by a knife considering the amount of protection around him.
