Since this article will get blocked out for you under the "Games" filter, I just pasted it below. I always swore I would never have a video gaming system in my house because when we go to people's houses that have them, my husband is wont to say things like, "We can leave as soon as I lose at StreetFighter" and eight hours later, we're still there (like I didn't already know why my grades were so much better than his in college ) :) . BUT, we got the Wii last summer as a cheaper-than-the-gym fitness plan, and I HEART THE Wii, even if it gives me a totally unrealitic perception of my golf skills.
Anyway, enough about me - are you a Wii fan or do you prefer and alternative gaming system? Why? Fave games?
TOKYO (AP) Japanese game maker Nintendo Co. said Thursday global sales of its popular Wii video game console have topped 50 million since it went on sale worldwide in late 2006.
Nearly 50 percent of the total sales of the Wii machine were in the United States and Canada, with Europe accounting for about 40 percent and Japan taking much of the rest, said the maker of Pokemon and Super Mario games.
50 Million And Counting
The Wii hit stores first in the United States in November 2006, and went on sale in Japan and Europe in early December of the same year.
The Wii game console has quickly become a smash hit, in large part due to its unique wireless controller. The wand-like controller is equipped with motion sensors that allow users to control game action by jabbing and swinging it through the air. Wii games, including "Wii Fit,""Wii Play," and "Mario Kart Wii," have all become global best sellers.
Apart from the Wii console, Nintendo has sold more than 100 million Nintendo DS portable handheld game machines worldwide in just four years and 3 months a milestone reached at the quickest pace for any video game console.
Compared to Sony, which has long appealed to hard-core gamers with its PlayStation series, Nintendo has scored hits with easier-to-play games that attract newcomers to gaming, including the elderly.
Nintendo's DS comes with a touch panel, making it possible to play some games without dealing with complex button-pushing.

Wii boxing wears me outtttttttttttttttttttttttttttt i love Wii and just got Wii fit! its so fun and its much better and smarter than mortal combat :) atleast people wont run around blaming their murderous crimes on Wii bowling :)
wii is so ultimo!! me and little joe will stay up and play until my mom yells at me because little joe is 8 and its 3 a.m. and he has school in the morning.
Wii is so fun. you get a nice exercise out of it. of all the games my brother bought i <3 mario cart & tennis. wii is probably the etertainment game system we used most often when family & friends come over. they love playing it.
we play for hours then get exhausted & play again. haha.
such a fun game system great for everybody.
oh & my pink DS! its easy to take around and it keeps you company when bored. :D
I LOVEEE WII with all my heart. My two brothers and sister and I usually play for hours when its raining outside or we just want to go bowling lol . The wii fit is even cooler i recomend it to everyone
haha i love Wii. we have one, well technically it's my brother's but i play it sometimes. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. that's really fun. Wii Sports is cool too, anything with boxing. its fun to pretend you're actually boxing, and the Wii actually makes it a lot more realistic than like PS2 where you're just pressing buttons, not throwing punches. now that's fun! :)
I can only barely play Wii sports- golf and bowling (my little sister is 9 and she beat me and my cousin at bowling- and my cousin is really good at videogames). Supermonkey balls gives me a headache sometimes. But the Mario 3d ( think that's what it's called) is really cool.
Go pokemon!!! I love playing that game. "I choose you, pikachu!"

Wow!!! Everyone here makes me feel so old (except Mrs. Cav :D)!!! I think I said this once during a class discussion but I have been playing video-games for a very, VERY LONG TIME. I now consider myself retired every since the Wii came out because that coincided with the exponential increase of the homework load that I had since then. But I digress. My aunt and my cousins used to babysit me and I started playing with the original NES when I was around 2. That's where I discovered my TWO OF MY FAVORITE VIDEO-GAME SERIES: THE OLD SUPER MARIO BROS. SERIES and THE OLD LEGEND OF ZELDA SERIES!!! Then my cousins got the SNES and that's where I found what's probably MY TOP FAVORITE VIDEO-GAME OF ALL TIME: STREET FIGHTER II!!! I played Mortal Kombat I and II, but they're not my favorites. I honestly think that I should have belonged in the 90's in terms of video-games!!! That's not to say that I haven't played the Wii. I have, but I haven't played it enough to be emotionally attached to it. (That's my little sister's job!) Maybe someday... Well, for now, I label myself as a retro-gamer and will probably remain so since I can't play the newer Super Mario Bros. and the newer Legend of Zelda. Ha ha ha!!!

Go old Supermario brothers!! I used to have the old old nintendo and that was one of my favorite games!! I never beat it but I it was fun getting pass the dragons and the weird brown and grey things. The best game ever- and it was before gaming systems got all complicated. I miss that game!!!!
