Obama calls violence in Darfur 'not acceptable'

With Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir's expulsion of 13 important nongovernmental aid organizations after he learned that the International Criminal Court charged him with war crimes and crimes against humanity, President Barack Obama and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon meet together to create an official U.S. response to the crisis in Darfur. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090311/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_un_6)

So, do you think that the US should involve itself in another problem in the world or do you think that we should stay out of it?

Sadly I don't think it is something that we can fix. No matter what we try to do there will always be conflict in Africa I don't think there is much that we can do to end the violence.

If we're the head of the ICC, or a major part, then obviously it's our responsibility to take care of it. How is it that One Man can slip between the ICC's fingers? Obviously they're not doing everything in their power to get him. But otherwise, it's not our responsibility, and yes I do feel for this whole terrible situation, but America has bigger and more immediate problems to deal with. Like Brittany said, there will always be conflict in Africa. We just have to pick our battles, as it were.

we can't do anything about it. the United Nations/ICC is not a police force. Of course world leaders are condemning it (except the few African Union countries and Arab league who are sticking up for their fellow Muslim leader). Expelling NGO's is such a dumb nationalistic decision.  They are purposely letting 1.3 million people suffer even more and they will have no supplies for them in a few months. China needs to step up in their part and stop buything their oil and selling them arms. There part of the Permanent Security Council. However this country however messed up this problem is, has a semi-stable government which undoubtedly would become chaotic if the rebels were to capture Bashir and extradit him to the Hague. whats a holy war against African tribesmen who believe in their native god's called?

I agree with President Obama that this is definitely not acceptable.  I also agree that this is not the time to put ourselves all the way in and get involved.  I think that we should be aware of what is happening and keep tabs on what Sudan's President is going to do next.  I can't understand why he even stopped the aid organizations when they were only benefitting his country, not making it worse.
