This morning on the news I saw a report about a couple college students who are going to give up facebook for lent. They said they are even going to have their friends change their passwords.
Do you think that giving up a website is good to give up for lent?? or should it be something that meens more to them??
I actually have a friend that did that. Since there aren't any specific guidelines on what to give up for lent I think Facebook would be a perfectly fine "thing" to give up. But I would recommend to those lenting Facebook to take another step and lent the internet.

I dont think it is for us to judge. Maybe they spend too much time on it and not being on Facebook can give them more time to concentrate on Lent. The whole purpose of Lent is to focus on what is coming ahead. Its a big deal and if these people are consistently sitting infront of their computers, theyre probably not paying attention to the entire meaning even if they were giving up, say meat. Its your own personal decision.
giving up facebook would only do well if they use that time that they aren't on it to spend time with friends and family or giving back to the community. but if they use the time to go to other websites like facebook- lame!

who decides what is reasonable or "good" to give up for lent? i think it is between that person and God, and we should not judge others for what they give up. the point isn't to pick and choose who is giving up more or who is giving up something better.
haha, i did that last year. i did it with my youth group last year including my youth pastor and bible study teachers. those who didn't have facebook gave up myspace. the (youngins)
& those who didn't have myspace or facebook, gave up something else.
alot of the youth teachers including my pastor and kids failed. but their doing it again this year plus giving up some else too. so its harder.
