Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi said Wednesday that the crisis in Sudan's western region of Darfur is his personal responsibility now that he has been elected to head the African Union. Gadhafi who has worked with these Sudan and Chad before warned the two countries not to use Western Sudan as a battle ground. A conflict between rebels and government forces in Darfur that began in 2003 has killed as 300,000 people and caused a humanitarian crisis that has seen 2.7 million flee their homes, some entering neighboring Chad. Gadhafi, who has ruled Libya since he seized power in a coup in 1969, warned the two nations not to violate the AU's rules, which forbid members or rebel groups from overthrowing other governments.
okay so this guy has been around and in power since 1969 and over 300,000 people have been killed. He has now offered a WARNING to these groups. I find this extremely rediculous and feel these people need a little more than a warning.
My question to you is do you also agree that these countries need more than warning? Or should Moammar Gadhafi take action?
I sympathize with the rebels. They're being attacked by the Islamic government-supported & funded Janjaweed militia who is doing the ethnic slaughter. What Sudan is doing to those rebels who are forced to flee is genocide. and are we seriously going to take Gadhafi serious?! This man who has openly supported rebellions and terrorist bombings before? I don't care if he isn't on our terrorist-sponsoring nations list anymore. The UN-AU peacekeepers are doing their best to hold the peace. Sudan has been warned many times of its criminal actions in Western Sudan, and its highly unlikely Gadhafi will do anything to a Islamic government like Sudans. it sucks, but the African Union is highly ineffective.
