-The Tamil Tigers (a rebel organization) launched a surprise raid on the Sri Lankan capital late Friday. -The Sri Lankan military shot down both planes, one of which crashed into a government office building, killing one person and wounding more than 40 others. -The attack was the first air raid here since the rebels bombed a power station on the outskirts of the city in October. -The military did not explain how the rebels were able to launch their aircraft. After The military said two weeks ago that it had captured the rebels' last hidden airstrip in the north, effectively grounding its tiny air force.
Is this an embarassment for the Sri Lankan Government after "capturing" all the Rebel bases last week in their military offensive? Or Is this a morale booster for the Tamil Tigers? Or is this ultimately going to lead to more bloodshed as the government will surely respond?
I think this whole thing is just an on going war that will never end. I hoppe the government is able to catch the rebels. I think this will lead to a lot of blood shed not only for the rebels but also innocent civilians.
