A Berlin bartender has gone on trial accused of having served a 16-year-old boy 45 tequila shots, which killed him. The barman is charged with having "fatally injured" the boy in his bar in February 2007 .The 28-year-old barman, identified only as Aytac G, allegedly had a drinking bet with the schoolboy, but poured mostly water for himself. The boy fell into a coma with alcohol poisoning, and died four weeks later. Prosecutors accuse the barman of having also served alcohol illegally to youths on 173 occasions in 2005-2007.
Is this bartender responsible for the murder of the boy? Does he deserve justice if he is convicted and found guilty?
I think this is horrible! I do not know the German drinking laws??? ahah but I do know that this is just sad. Especially if he hasd a bet with the boy, kept him going, and was decieving him the entire time. i do think that he is responsible for the death of the boy because he knowling did something bad to him while making sure to save himself. i think he deserves to have charges pressed.
Yes he is guilty. I lived in Germany this past summer, and i know for a fact that it is illegal for a 16 year old to have any hard liqour such as tequilla. When you are 16 there you can only have beer, champagne and wine, so first of all the bartender shoud be charged for serving him alchohal illegally. Second of all, he should have known that that much liqour could kill the boy. Then again, im not sure how they will count tha as murder and im not sure if they will but it ws illegal for him to give the boy tequilla

I think they are both guilty. The 16 year old is guilty because he agreed on the bet when he knew that it was illegal. Furthermore, he had the power to say no and walk away. The bartender is guilty for serving tequila to a 16 year old, when he knew that wasn't allowed. Plus, he was cheating! But since there is no way to punish the boy since he's dead, the bartender should be blamed and punished- especially since he had that history of serving other minors alcohol they are not supposed to drink.
to sandy-- go frank sinatra! he's one of my favorites!

I think he is definately responsible for the death of the boy and should be charged with murder. He shouldn't be serving alcohol to underaged people, let alone making bets and cheating to win.

I agree with this. Though they cant punish the boy, they can however punish the bartender. He knowingly served the underage boy 45 tequila shots. I think she should be sentenced to death for cheating at bar games.
i think the bartender is responsible for this boys death beacuse exactly in the description....16 year old BOY. he doesnt know his limits with things exspecially alchohal. the bartender works in this enviroment. he shouldnt be serving to miners exspecially this amount. things people will do just to make profit. where are this boys parents too. or friends to tell him to stop. the bartender should be pressed with charges exspecially cause this isnt the only time he has served minors.. horrible way to die. RIP guy
Its sad the boy died and he was only 16, but i think there should be some responsibilty put on his part, he chose to drink. It is better for people to take responsibility for there actions and life as it is instead of blaming people for your circumstances or predicament. I also think that the bartender should have chargers put against him though, it is way unfair and messed up that he was drinking water..and allowed the boy to keep downing Tequila. He also needs to realize that he did partake in this kids death.
Yes he should be convicted. He illegally served alcohol to minors ( more than once ) and served him 45 shots! Im surprised he didnt drop dead right then and there. Plus, if they know how many shots the kid took, he obviously was keeping tabs and didnt even have the descency to at least cut him off. ANd the kid did beat him, cheater!
the man is responsible for the death of the boy. even though in most european countries the alcohol laws are more laxed, its common sense that 45 shots of tequila is a dangerous amount of alcohol, and he shouldnt have given someone who hasn't matured yet that volume of liquor and he should have stopped serving the boy much earlier.
Of course the mans responsible he served and asked the 16 year old to drink, he should serve the maxium sentence. It wasnt a first time thing either he served many other underaged kids also.
I agree with Sarah. He knowingly gave the kid alot of alcohol and knew exactly what would happen. That is wrong and very selfish of him to just sit there and watch the boy practically drink himself to death.
