The stimulus plan now up for voting today in the house is very contoversial. While republicans want more tax cuts and incentives for buisnesses democrats are keeping the package mostly about spending federal money to increase public works and private company productions. What do you think about this bill? Is it the right way to help fix the economy? Which party (If at all) do you agree with?

Where is the money coming from? Raising taxes on the rich?
The bill states no tax increases to my knowledge but speaker of the house nancy pelosi has expressed an urge to get rid of the bush tax cuts before they are slated to expire. Obama though is not willing to go forward in raising taxes of any kind.
Hope that helps!

I believe that Obama's economic stimulus package should benefit our countries economy. More government spending can only create more jobs, and therefore benefit the wellbeing of our country. WE are always going to have a virtually unmeasurable amount of debt, and this new plan would not change that. Under the new economic plan, hopefully good things will come.

Well I will leave it to my favorite quote I found today to explain why spending won't work.
"The Democrats think somehow they're going to come in and fix it," he said of the recession left behind by Bush. "But common sense: You can't spend your way out of poverty, running up your credit card. You get to buy a lot of stuff, but you end up deeper in debt. Eventually they will have to come back to the Republican party."
As for the money we are spending on the stim. plan most of it is just coming off the printing presses thus decreasing the value of itself slowly over time or from borrowing money from other nations. 8% of the national budget is spent just on the interest of these loans.
Here is a site that might put our spending into perspective for you.

Hahahah that quote is so true. I really think that the Stimulus plan is a huge waste of money. He's not off to a good start...closing Gitmo and now this.
