The Japanese carmaker Honda has announced further cuts in production in Japan and Europe as it continues to struggle with a slump in sales, due to economic downturn. Rival carmaker Toyota has announced plans to cut its domestic temporary workforce in half. Toyota is planning to shut down all its North American factories for two days next month and it is laying off half its temporary workers in Japan, although so far it has avoided cutting any of its permanent employees.
Do you think this will put American Car companies such as 'The Big Three' (General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler) in a better position to negotiate a bailout in order to pump more money in to America's economy?
Do you think with other forgien car company's going out of buisness, this will releave some of the competition and will eventually be helpfull to "The Big Three' ?
i hope it helps out the big three, anything that helps America's domestic companies is a good thing right now. but, like jess said, not many people are in the market for new cars.
Japanese car producers close the factories because there's not that much requirement. Of cause the competition between big three and other companies are less serious than before. And that's gonna save more local car companies.
