Britain and Iraq are in the midst of discussions to keep British troops in until the end of the year and begin pulling troops out in January. The United States wants a similar agreement. Prime Minister of Iraq Al-Maliki says that 4,000 troops are not needed to remain, but only a few are needed to train Iraqi soldiers. However, he invites British companies to invest in the reconstruction of Iraq. http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/meast/10/19/iraq.main/index.html
Do you think that Iraq is right in suggesting the lowering of troops? Or should Britain and the U.S. stay until we are satisfied?
I agree that we need to get out but of course we still need troops over there because there are still troops in Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Germany. But this is a war we should have not been in the first place.
I think that if Iraq thinks we should lower the amount of our troops there, then we should. It's good that they are trying to be less dependent on Britain and the U.S.
