Federal agents swept through a chicken processing plant Tuesday in Greenville, South Carolina, detaining more than 300 suspected illegal immigrants, sending panicked workers running and screaming through the hallways. Worried relatives collected outside, fearful their loved ones would be deported.
i think that it was completley necessary, because when it gets right down to it, they shouldnt be here, even if they are doing the jobs we dont want to do. They come illegally, they should be ready to face the consequences
Although I think that they shouldn't be here illegaly the government should prioritize. Maybe deport people who aren't contributing to our economy before people who are working.
I wonder how picked which suspects to detain... Anyone that looked hispanic? I don't think this was appriopriate way to address this issue just because what were their motives for sweeping through that factory? Are they going ot do this to every factory now? However, the illegal immigrants do need to enter the country legally or they risk deportation. You can't really feel sorry for them because they knew deportation was a risk.
I understand why they are here. They just want to provide a better life for their family, but they need to do it the right way. A couple of months ago, Mexico became angry with South American nations because their citizens were illegally entering Mexico, and they were deported. So why is it okay for them to encourage their people to illegally come to America? I think this is a huge problem, and more raids such as this one need to be done.
Hopefully, it will instill fear in other immigrants
Yeah hopefully no one else immigrates to America! That's not what our country was founded on or anything.
just remember, the European immigrants for the 1800s came here and got their citizenships, there is a difference. But legal immigration is all good....
I think that federal agents do have the right to do this but at the same time if you send one illegal immigrant back, you have to send all of them back, no exceptions.
i believe these agents did the right thing, illegal immigration is a huge problem and it needs to be controlled if not stopped. These people in search for a better life should take the time to become a citizen, if they truly want to live and work here.
i think it was an extremely harsh measure, but when it comes down to it, it was the right thing to do. illegal immigration does need to be dealt with, even if done so with drastic measures such as these.
It is their job to enforce the law. Although it unfortunate that this has happened, because the illegal workers are only looking for a better life and to be able to support their families. But the are here illegally and the federal agents did nothing wrong, they were just doing their jobs.
i think the feds did the right thing they re illegal they deserve to be punished
and granted its unfortuante that they re looking for a better life but if we continue to appease them with such tactics as letting them walk into our country without becoming a citizen our country will be the one hurting in the long run

I think the feds are doing there job but these immigrants need a job and a place to live and its like none of our families from a long time ago were immigrants coming to America.
