In response to China's rising of power, Australia has been having an increase in arms defense. They are aiming for an arms build up in case they need to defend themselves against China if they are to gain to much power. Could this be another cold war?
ok, this is only a country that is responding to increasing tension, Austrailia should have the right to build up a military defense, a cold war would take nuclear power, not snipers! the response is what i would personally do if i were a tiny island watching a nearby country, population 1.4 BILLION, began growing in military as well as economic strength. This is a natural response that has happened countless times throughout history, and not once has it been the beginning of a cold war. The Cold War was started from a dictator refusing to release his satellite nations and rising tensions due to Nuclear arms race!
Scott's absolutely right. A sniper vs a nuclear bomb? The difference is a ridiculous. And honestly, I would hope we would have learned from our mistakes of the Cold War.
Cold war between Australia and China? No, there aren't going into war. I think it's just that in the last decades China is getting stronger, and Australian officials just want to make sure they have enough military equipment, in case of something happens. Like, if World War III breaks out, and China isn't going to stay neutral, Australia wants to be ready to response.
I DOUBT IT, IF WORLD WAR 3 IS ABOUT TO BREAK OUT, IT'S DEFINATELY NOT GOING TO START BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND CHINA.
aaahhhhhhhhhh but thats where u r wrong, if u think back to 1914, it was little countries with ties to much larger superpowers that started WWI, why not austrailia and China? obivously, its not gonna happen, as i stated earlier, but u cant forget small details, small countries start world conlficts countless times through out history
I agree with Scott. We both were in the same History class and I believe he knows what he is talking about, like myself. It's the smaller countries who are diplomatic idiots that cause such disasterous wars, not world powers. (No Offense to Australia. Bless their soul.)
It's understandable that Australia is not quite a World Power compared to the U.S. or the European Federation, but it could definitely start something crazy!

im not saying that there is a conflict, im disagreeing with the statement you made about how there couldnt be a global conflict because of China and Austrailia. You have to understand that it only takes one false move by even the smallest country to spark something that will engulf the known world(i.e. Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand sparking WWI).
the fact is that a country that is politically, militarily, and economically inferior to a power such as china is incapeable of participating in a war of deterrance such as the Cold War.
Furthermore, scott and drew are indeed correct...dont try and correct an AP US History student on US History....much less those students who were educated by bob thomas
