In Mexico City abortions have been ruled to legal. if you are a doctor in a private practice you don't have to do the procedure but in public hospitals it is legal. This is causing lots of controversy because Mexico is very religious, the Roman Catholic church and the people of Mexico are very upset and don't want it. Do you think Mexico should keep this law?
Absolutely. Abortion should not be the governments business. If a person is morally against abortion, then the simple solution is not to have an abortion. Religious reasons should not be the reason a country decides whether to not have a law.
If Mexicans are so religious, then why are their kids having premarital sex? Seems a bit hypocritical to me, but I am already against abortion, it's still a living organism. Be mindful of your decisions and actions, they all have consiquences. Maybe they should stress safe-sex more if it bothers the Catholics so much.
i agree with becca, go figure. abortion is YOUR right and if other people don't like it, then other people can turn the other cheeck. or get pregnant, and tell everyone that they won't have an abortion. kind of like a 'i did it and so can you'. i understand mexico is very catholic, but i don't believe that justifies getting mad at everyone else for something they personally choose. if you don't like it change it, or move.
so i guess yeah i think mexico should keep this law unless something goes horribly awry
the people of Mexico are very upset and don't want it.
I suppose they are either religious or men? ^^
They probably should leave the law, because it is woman's right to decide what she wants to do with her body. Or, if so many people are against it, they should make it legal only up to certain number of pregnancy weeks...
abortion should be the womans choice but I do think that the doctor should also have the right to refuse doing the procedure, suggest other options, or refer the patient to another doctor for the sake of the doctors own rights and beliefs
abortion should be the womens decision becasue the government and the people around them are mostly likely not going to help them with the child and they may not be able to provide for the child and that's not good. i say that if the people against it are not going to help with the child then they should have no say on whether to terminate them or not.

i think that abortion should be the womans choice. i dont think a child should be born into an environment where the parents are not capable to care for the child.
i think the united states are just as religious as mexico so i have the same beleif for both countries. i think that women should definitely get to choose whether or not to take advantage of the technology or not. its still sad and morally wrong but the law shouldnt interefere with a persons individual choice whether to keep their baby or not. so they should definitely just keep the law the way it is.
i believe that abortion is a choice, and that other people should not have the right to make that choice for you by making it illegal, so i think mexico should keep the law, if you dont like abortions, DONT GET ONE!!! its that simple, i dont see why so much fuss is necessary
I think that they should keep the law. Roman Catholics are everywhere and I think that just because it is the dominate religion in Mexico it doesn't mean they are more religious. They just have more people believing in the same thing. Abortion is a womens choice and if the government allows then thats just the way it is.
It is a known fact that it is impossible to compromise on moral issues, therefore, if you dont like abortions dont get one, and keep out of another persons business if they need one. Its simply a matter of personal choice. so yes keep the law

I personally feel that abortion is morally wrong. After 3 or 4 weeks the baby has a heartbeat and to have an abortion when you know there is a living thing inside of you is murder. If you don't want to get pregnant then get on birth control (of course it is different if it was rape). I think Mexico should get rid of the law, every life counts.
I just have such a problem with abortions... How about being responsible for your choices?! Give the baby up for adoption to a family that can't have a child of their own. I just feel like passing such a law make it seem like, oops, i got pregnant but i can just get rid of it. or an even BETTER choice, how about not having sex until you are married. or if that seems impossible, use protection... ALL the protection available. I do not think Mexico should keep this law but I don't see how they can just take it back now.
I'm not for abortions, but my question is, what happened if a girl or women was raped...its not like it was their choice to have sex, so responsibilty shouldn't be on them...I just think that people should be more responsible and there wouldn't be such controversy over it.
I think its a good idea to legalize abortion in mexico because mexico is full of poverty and teen pregnancy and its good for them to have the option of choosing whether or not they want to keep the child. As far as religion goes, suck it up? seriously if you dont want one or believe in abortions then don't get one.

well yes those are all great alternatives to abortion, but you have to think realisticly, Mexico doesn't have the same oppurtunities as the United States or Europe or Canada or whatever there arent too many adoption agencies or any of that you just have to realize that adoption and things like that aren't very accepted there yet and as far as protection and not having sex sometimes they don't have access to condoms and they weren't educated like we were. Sex there is a very sacred thing it is always taught as when your married you have sex to have babies. And the justice system in Mexico kind of doesn't do anything at all especially in small villages so abortion may be one of the choices if a woman was to be raped.
